Certified Industrial Control Panels

Our electrical control panels are designed and built with the utmost care for strict safety and short circuit current rating standards.

US and Canadian Certifications

cULus UL/cUL CSA

UL 508A
UL Standard for Safety for Industrial Control Panels

Our custom panel shop is UL 508A certified to build your control panels, large or small. Allied Circuits has over 35 years of combined expertise in UL certified panel design and fabrication.

UL 1203
ExplosionProof and Dust-IgnitionProof Electrical Equipment for Use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations

Flammable gases, vapors, mists, and dusts are inevitably create in many processes. Allied Circuits can design custom electrical panels that follow the UL 1203 standard for prevention of explosions and dust ignitions in industrial settings.

NFPA 79
Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery

The NFPA 79 provides safeguards for industrial machinery to protect operators, equipment, facilities, and work-in-progress from fire and electrical hazards.

Safety of personnel and industrial machinery is an utmost concern for us at Allied Circuits. As such, we are dedicated to upholding the safety standards in NFPA 79.

cUL

A control panel certified to cUL states that it complies to CSA C22.2 but is certified by the National Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) of UL.

NFPA 496
Purged & Pressurized (cULus HazLoc CERTIFIED)

The basic concept of pressurization is that by connection of a purge gas an enclosure has an internal pressure keeping the hazardous gas from entering the enclosure where a potential source of ignition exists.

X-PURGE: Reduces the area inside the enclosure from Class I Division 1 to a safe area.

Y-PURGE: Reduces the area inside the enclosure from Class I Division 1 to Class I Division 2.

Z-PURGE: Reduces the area inside the enclosure from Class I Division 2 to a safe area.

UL 698A
Industrial Control Panels Relating to Hazardous (Classified) Locations

These requirements cover industrial control panels intended for general industrial installation and use in unclassified locations with intrinsically safe circuit extensions into the following hazardous (classified) locations in accordance with the NEC, NFPA 70:

  • Class I, Division 1
  • Class I, Zone 0 and Zone 1 AEx
  • Class II, Division 1
  • Class III, Division 1
  • Zone 20 and Zone 21 AEx

Allied Circuits is certified to build industrial control panels following the guidelines in UL 698A by incorporating components for intrinsic safety.

UL 121201
Nonincendive Electrical Equipment for Use in Class I and II, Division 2 and Class III, Divisions 1 and 2 Hazardous (Classified) Locations

The purpose of UL 121201 is to provide minimum requirements for the design, construction, and marking of electrical equipment or parts of such equipment for use in Class I and Class II, Division 2 and Class III, Divisions 1 and 2 hazardous (classified) locations.

CSA C22.2

Allied Circuits has the ability to design and build custom electrical panels and have them certified to CSA C22.2.

The CSA C22.2 set of standards are aimed primarily at providing the requirements for the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment to address fire and electric shock hazards.

EU / International Certifications

ATEX IECEx ISO 9001:2015

Flame Proof (Ex d)

Flame Proof is the international equivalent to North America’s version of Explosion Proof enclosure. The control panel contains the explosion and uses construction guidelines on Flame path, cooling, and internal & external temperatures to ensure the enclosure shall not create a heat source, potentially igniting any external gases that may be present.

Increased Safety (Ex e)

The definition of Increased Safety is “type of protection applied to electrical equipment or Ex Components in which additional measures are applied, giving increased security against the possibility of excessive temperatures and occurence of arcs and sparks.”

Intrinsically Safe (Ex i)

The definition of intrinsic safety is “type of protection based on the restriction of electrical energy within equipment and of interconnecting wiring exposed to an explosive atmosphere down to a level below which cannot cause ignition by either sparking or heating effects.”

Purge (Ex pxb, pyb, pzc)

The basic concept of Purge is to pressurize the inside of an enclosure so that hazardous gas cannot enter an enclosure with equipment that can potentially be a source of ignition.

Zone 2 (similar to Class I Div. II)

A Zone 2 control panel is built with components that have been designed and tested by a notified body to show that, under normal operating conditions, it will not be a source of ignition.
